Help! I'm a cutter? I had gotten much better for awhile, but my stress levels have increased SO much lately. It's so hard for me not to give in and cut, for the relief it provides. What can I DOOOO???

Hello Angel,

My heart bleeds for your pain.I know the temptation is STRONG, but there are some alternatives. I don't know whether you are aware, but one of the main reasons cutting helps relieve stress is that is stimulates your body to produce "happy hormones" in response to the pain. This normally happens in case of accidents, injuries, etc. but cutting produces the same physical response. You can prompt your body to produce these "happy hormones" (endorphins, seretonin) by taking nutritional supplements. The one that helps me most is the amino acid, L Tyrosine. If you take it on an empty stomach when you first get up and take a good vitamin B complex (B6 and B12) 30 minutes later with food, you will be AMAZED at how much good it will do you. You can give yourself a "boost" of this during the day by eating an egg. It is the perfect blend of amino acids and B vitamins to pack a "happy hormone" punch. That's why eggs make such a great breakfast food.

Also, cutting has been around THOUSANDS of years, and it has been often associated with pagan religious practices to produce euphoria, and also with demon possession. The theory here is that the cutting produces the euphoria, but it also opens the cutter up to being possessed or oppressed by a spirit that takes advantage of the emotional and spiritual vulnerability of the cutter. We are strange and wonderous creatures, composed of spiritual, physical and emotional elements, and that makes us open to spiritual involvement with both the Spirit of God and evil spirits as well.

Some activities invite demonic "stalkers" to oppress us. Among these activities are any occult activity, pornography, and cutting (I suppose it is an occult activity, but most do not realize this when they start doing it.)In your grief and stress, you may have opened yourself up to be harassed by an evil spirit, or perhaps some other event had made you easy prey, and that is what led to the cutting in the first place. Once a person has come under demonic oppression, the spirits will not leave until they are banished by the Spirit of God on the person's behalf. Just as the evil was invited, God must be invited to intervene in your situation. This is because He has given us free will and will not evict our "guests" unless we ask Him to! Recurring Dreams

There is an example of recurring dreams or recurring dream symbols
in the Bible, recorded in the 40th chapter of Genesis.  These dreams
were given by God to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, thousands of years ago,
to tell him of a famine that was going to occur in Egypt & the surrounding
countries and what actions He must take to avert disaster for his people.
In verse 32, Joseph, one of the two greatest dream interpretors that
ever lived, explains the reason for recurring dreams.  He said:

“The reason the dream was given to Pharaoh in two forms is that the
matter has been firmly decided by God, and God will do it soon.”

Not all of our dreams are as important to so many as this Pharaoh's
dream.  However, each of us is important to God, and our needs are
important as well.  So, we have recurring dreams to “wake us up” to
how important the message of the dream is, so we will pay attention to
it and deal with the issues highlighted by our dreams.  Our dreams may
be predicting a future event, but more often, they simply draw our attention
to something we need to think about, pray about, and deal with in our own
lives in order to be healthier and happier and have better relationships.

Some recurring dreams are just a look into our own obsessions, such as
repeatedly dreaming about someone we miss or have a crush on, or
dreaming about an expensive car we want, etc.  If the recurring dream is
not trying to tell you something you don't already know, it is just a wish
your own heart is making.

However, recurring dreams that wake you up or keep nagging you are
definitely a message that “you've got mail” you need to open and read.
Mail from your own inner spirit, and maybe even mail from God your
Creator.  After all, He is the one who had you in His heart and mind before
the creation of the earth, and He designed the “dream system” to work for
us, so we need to work with it!

Numerology "Virus"

There seems to be what I call a "spiritual virus" of numerology going around right now. People are having these weird number dreams and/or hearing numbers chanted in their heads (while awake) and noticing certain numbers everywhere they turn...
on the digital clock, on cash register receipts, etc. The same numbers over and over.

This is an attempt on the part of evil spirits who call themselves "spirit guides" to lure people to occult web sites or psychics or numerologists to satisfy their curiosity about what they numbers and symbols mean. I've noticed on Yahoo Answers and in people I know personally that once a person starts seeking for "answers" in this way, they begin to have horrible nightmares. The content of the nightmares indicate to me that evil spirits are involved. I think the person's inner self recognizes the danger and the dream is an attempt to point it out.

Once these spirits have been invited (by going to occult websites or consultants) they can only be gotten rid of through the power of God, through His Son Jesus.

If you notice more attempts like this, pray and ask God to evict these influences. Speak out and tell the voices (if you hear any) to leave, that they are not welcome. If you are a Christian, say, "I am covered by the blood of Jesus. I belong to God. You have NO right to be here." Spend some time with some good Christian music and reading the Bible. Reading aloud portions of scripture related to Jesus' death and resurrection would be especially powerful.

You may have some new person in your life who has "infected" you with this virus, just by being around them. Or, you may have purposely or inadvertently invited this by exploring occult things online or elsewhere.

If you are under age 20 or 21 and you experience continual harassment, you may need to call in your parents to help evict the influences. This has to do with being 'legally of age' in the spiritual realms. In the Old Testament, God indicated that a man was legally "of age" when he turned 20.

That might be more information than you needed at this point, but if you have been courting these influences, even accidentally, you won't be sorry I gave you more than you asked for.

Why Did Jesus Have To Die For Us?

Most people cannot grasp.... some even condemn, the idea of a substitute sacrifice. And how could God send His own SON? The very idea does seem harsh! But wait! That's not the whole story!


OUR STERILE, SHELTERED SOCIETY
Americans and Europeans of our day have never lived in a culture that practices human or animal sacrifice. We live in a sanitized environment compared to what people have experienced through most of history, and even. compared to much of the world today.

For example, When I hear someone declaring that they will never vaccinate their children, I wonder if they might feel differently if they had lived during a time when polio and smallpox disfigured and killed so many people. The very reason we can choose whether or not to accept the vaccine is because those who lived before us DID accept it. If the general population began rejecting the vaccines, we might be revisited by many diseases that have seemingly been wipe out before most of us were born. We are free to make choices based on the suffering and sacrifice of others.

How does this relate to the practice of vicarious sacrifice?
It's kind of a long story!

SO, WHERE DID THIS EVIL COME FROM?
An atrocity occurred early in human history that tilted the planet and twisted the order God established on Earth. Evil entered the world. God created people and angels, and not wanting to be just a puppet master, He gave us free will. One of the angels, called "Lucifer" became rather stuck on himself and wanted to take God's throne (which was rather like a mouse trying to run your house, but Lucifer didn't see it that way!). So, he instigated a rebellion in Heaven, and 1/3 of the angels decided they'd like to be totally free of God's way of doing things and to set themselves up as "gods" somewhere in the universe. So, they chose Earth as their prospective "empire," with Lucifer in the lead.


The reason they chose Earth is because there were beings on Earth a little weaker than they, whom they hoped they could impress with their power and knowledge, so that is exactly the weapon Lucifer used to tempt Eve in the Garden of Eden. He offered her "knowledge." He said, "If you will eat of this tree God has forbidden you to eat of, you'll be like GOD, having the knowledge of good and evil."

Adam and Eve, up to this point, were the RULERS of Earth, and they had a good thing going on, but I guess they liked the idea of getting promoted to "godhood." Lucifer was probably very beautiful, and he was clever and flattering. So, they decided they'd rather have what he offered, and take a chance on God's response to the matter.

TRAP OR OPPORTUNITY?
I believe God had put the tree in the garden, not so much as a test for Adam and Eve, but as an opportunity. He wanted to give them free will so they would be more than puppets, and the only way he could do this was to give them some kind of choice. Imagine if you could make someone drink a love potion and they would love and follow you and do everything you asked - forever. That would be fun, at first, maybe, but over time, you'd start to wonder, "Would you love me if you really had a choice?" Because PROGRAMMED love is not real. And PROGRAMMED people are more like Cyborgs or robots, and God created these people to be REAL, to love, to create... and there was no way to do it other than to give them some chance to choose!

They COULD have chosen to do right. Did God know they would choose to do wrong? Yes. Just as we know if we bring a child into this world, it will at times rebel against us and possibly reject us and our love, but we still do it. We do it for the love of it. Life without love is meaningless, even if you are God!

So, here are Adam and Eve... rulers of the planet. What do they do? They break the ONE law they've been given, and in doing so, they actually GIVE dominion of Planet Earth to the great scammer, Lucifer. They sell themselves and the entire planet into his legal control. They made the choice. (And I suspect that, in their place, we would have done the same thing.)

COULDN'T GOD JUST BAIL THEM OUT?
Now, God COULD have stepped in and destroyed Lucifer, taken back the planet, and done whatever He felt was most sensible at that point. But, that would not be justice, and it would not be respecting Adam and Eve's free will. See... God CAN DO ANYTHING, but He keeps His promises and He grants and respects free will. He honors His agreements. He honors OUR agreements and will not force us to do anything. Even among humans, we despise a leader or offical who is not fair, and who manipulates people to do things against their own will, don't we?

Could we expect God Himself to just bail Adam and Eve out of the mess they created, not keep His own law, not honor His own promises? What would stop them from just getting themselves right back into the same mess again? What would happen if parents just let our kids do as they please and NEVER allow them to experience the consequences of their own choices? Would they turn out to be mature, admirable people? Or would they remain "whiny babies" who just want the goodies without any effort? Would they ever grow up or be capable of true, unselfish love? We expect more of pets than that! But we want God to treat us as toys rather than intelligent beings with the capacity to reason and make choices. Are we REALLY that shallow? What kind of cartoon God would He be?

So... back to our "first parents" and their self created quandry:

A LEGAL BARGAIN
Adam and Eve had, by their own choice, sold the themselves and the planet into Lucifer's control. This was a cosmic legal matter, made by consenting beings. Lucifer was thrilled and refused to give up control without a blood sacrifice. As new owner, he could set his own price. We are sold as slaves to sin and the devil. ("Devil" means "advesary" or enemy"). The first humans made this pact, and only someone of the human family can cancel it. We have, as their decendents, inherited their debt.

But how could Adam and Eve do that? If they offered themselves as a blood sacrifice, they would have been dead. It would have been the end of the story and the human race!. They were stuck.

ONLY A HUMAN CAN BUY BACK WHAT A HUMAN SOLD
God promised them that one day He would send someone in the human bloodline to cancel the curse and redeem the human race from slavery. They would still have to deal with the consequences of their actions here on Earth and die physically, but if they believed in and obeyed God they would have the chance of eternal life after they physical death.

For millenia, God spoke to the prophets, telling them a Savior would come. Many prophecies were made concerning him. Meanwhile, the people still felt dirty, and needed a way to rid themselves of the tormenting guilt in their hearts due to their sinful nature. So, God instituted a system of yearly animal sacrifice for them, a kind of catharsis to help them deal with the guilt and burden of their fallen condition.

Of course, no animal's blood could TRULY change a heart but the hope that ONE DAY, MESSIAH, God's chosen one, would come and set them free gave them the strength to keep trying.

You may be screaming inside right now, thinking "NO! How could God require this?" But think about it. Think of some of the hideous wrongs people have done to one another throughout history. Think of the Haulocaust, think of children being raped. Think, even, of some of the things people have done to you, how you have been wounded. Does something in you cry out for justice? For punishment? Even for revenge?

JUSTICE VS. VENGEANCE
See, God KNOWS we have that in our nature. He is fair and just, and we are created in His image (spiritually) The desire for justice is good, but we, in our neediness and selfishness, pervert it into a desire for vengeance. God knew if He did not institute SOME system to appease people's guilt and also their anger, we would take things into our own hands. And you KNOW that when people decide to take justice into their own hands, you get vigilantes lynchings, hangings, and... yes..........................................HUMAN SACRIFICE!

Imagine this scenario. "Crops have been pretty bad this year. Maybe the gods are mad at us. How can we appease them?"

"Hey, I've got an idea. Let's just pick one person a year to die for us all. How about a pure virgin? The gods ought to like that!"

Hey, Jethro! I hear you got a PRETTY, virgin daughter! How's she doing?"

History proves this is true. The Hebrew, or Jewish nation was the nation that tried most to follow God's laws, and they were the ones with the animal sacrifice system. All around them, other nations practiced human sacrifice. Sacrificing virgins. Throwing thier own children into fires lit in the bellies of idols that they worshiped. These nations had followed the lies of the enemy, Lucifer. He calls himself by many names, but he is still the original deceiver, the serpent, the enemy of our souls.

GOD DOES NOT LIKE ANIMAL SACRIFICE!
So, while the animal sacrifice system was not perfect or ideal (and the Bible clearly states this) it was a temporary fix to help the people realize just how far humanity had fallen, and to help them rise above the practices of the pagan nations all around them (and all around the world) that practiced human sacrifice to appease demons and try to atone for their sins. God took no pleasure in animal sacrifice, but it was better than the alternative, so God allowed it to continue for years, allowing the people time to realize their own inability to rise above their baser instincts and the fact that they needed His help to progress beyond that. So, the system continued as an annual reminder of their sin and God's promise, but animal sacrifice could not change human hearts are take away sin.

A PERMANENT SOLUTION
Finally, God said "ENOUGH!" When the time was right, God put on human skin and came to Earth in the person of Jeus, born as a baby in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago. Jesus was (physically) totally human. He was (spiritually) totally God. So, as a sinless human, he could pay the blood price demanded to permanently buy back humanity and Planet Earth by His death on the Cross. As God, He could be raised to life again and overcome Lucifer's plan to destroy humanity and break God's heart.

GOD HIMSELF IN HUMAN SKIN
Is this starting to make sense? It's no so much that God wanted blood... it was that He would not break the vows by which He bound Himself, He would not violate a bargain made freely by his created beings... a rebel angel and two rebellious humans . He was JUST (fair), so he allowed the bargain to stand, but He was MERCIFUL and LOVING enough to put on skin and die in our place. He knew to just "throw out" our offenses would not change our hearts. But, to sacrifice Himself might capture our hearts enough that we would WANT to do right and return to His arms. So, God our creator put on human flesh and took our punishment upon Himself because He knew we could not survive it.

SO, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME?
NOW... since Jesus paid the blood price, are we all freed from slavery? Technically, yes. But just as God's people long ago had to identify with the death of the sacrificial lamb and accept that the debt it paid was really theirs, so we have to realize Jesus died as our sacrificial lamb, even though He was spotless and as innocent as a baby lamb. We have to INTERNALIZE what He did for us in order to realize the benefits of it in our minds, in our spirits, in our lives. Otherwise, we continue to wear our chains and live in bondage to our enemy. God will not violate our free will and force us into a relationship with Him. He will not force us to forsake our chains. He knows love has to be voluntary.

By the way, the sacrificed animal was never wasted. It became part of a special meal, celebrating God's love and mercy and commiting to new beginnings. It is up to YOU to decide if Jesus' sacrifice on your behalf will be wasted, or it you will accept the price He paid and break satan's hold on you.

Even if you do not completely understand it all, you can still accept it. Understanding often follows acceptance. So, if something in your heart says, "Yes! I want to accept what Jesus did for me and see where He will lead me," just tell Him so! You can talk to Him. He hears you. Tell Him you realize you are a prisoner to so many things, so full of mistakes and sinfulness. None of us are perfect, so it shouldn't be so hard to admit that! Thank Him for paying the price to ransom you from the kidnapper of your soul and ask Him to fill you with His Spirit so that you can hear His voice and learn to walk in freedom. He's waiting for you! Don't waste His sacrifice on your behalf.

Lost or Stolen Wallet

LOST WALLET
I dreamed I went to gas station and a man walked up to me and told me he had just found a wallet inthe parking lot. It turned out to be my husband's wallet that he had lost earlier in the dream and had already bought a new one. The still had all his stuff in it. What does this mean?

FAIRELIGHT'S RESPONSE:
For me personally, a wallet has represented my identity. So, if I felt somehow I was losing my identity in a situation, or a person was "squashing" my right to be myself and do what I needed to do in any situation, I might dream they had taken my wallet, or that I lost my wallet at their house.

If your husband has been struggling with "finding himself" or "being himself" or figuring out what his role or place is in any given situation (at work, church, school, the family) he might feel he has lost his identity... or in the dream, a wallet. He has "bought a new wallet," which means he is actually "reinventing himself" to make this situation work, but that is never a good long term solution and leads to depression and frustration.

The man who found the wallet probably represents someone who affirms your husband's TRUE identity and encourages him to use his talents, use his authority, or step into the role he is meant to fill, in spite of opposition.

In this day, we also fear having our "identity" stolen in the cyber world, threatening our financial stability, our credit, our reputation. This too, could provoke a "lost wallet" type of dream. But we've ALWAYS had to deal having our true identity stolen or crushed, and that's destructive at very deep levels as well.

Twin Self, Clones, Doubles

DREAM:
HELP! I dreamed I was tenderly kissing a clone of myself! I've been through a lot lately, but this is just TOO weird!

FAIRELIGHT'S RESPONSE:
You've been through a lot. You've had so much to handle, you feel as if you've needed to have yourself cloned to be able to deal with it all. Now it's time to spend some time taking care of YOURSELF. You've go to give yourself some tender loving care. Pamper youself a little. Take a break. Get the rest you need. Eat healthy. Pray for wisdom and the strength to say "NO" when you need to! Once you do that, your clone will disappear and you'll be your whole self again!

Pray for God to help you prioritize so there will be enough of you to go around!
